Food

Why do we crave for varieties in food? Why can't a simple dal and chappati suffice the indian tongue ;). Well, I wish I had answers to that. It would have solved half my worry about reducing my weight. I wonder why all the tasty items have lot of calories? Why cant fat/obese/a little healthy people have them without the tension of putting on some more weight? Somebody pls pls pls answer. :(

Emotion of the moment......

Book Bitten

These days I am bit by book reading bug. In a way its good also. I am spending time in a productive way rather that wasting it on chatting (remember my laptop is still not working). I have been reading books on the plight of Muslim women in Islamic countries. They are kind of biographies written by Jean Sasson, an American writer, for these ill treated women. Its depressing, but all is not negative in books. It does talk about these courageous women who tried to fight for themselves and have it their way. And, I learnt some Urdu/Arabic/Farsi words(all are same for me, cant make out the difference). Below is the list of few words:
1) Nasr - a kind of promise made to god
2) Bushtakim - go straight
3) Khobe - well being
4) Shoma - your

The books I have already read are:
1) Mayada - Daughter of Iraq
2) Princess
3) Daughters of Arabia
4) Love in a Torn Land
5) Not without my Daughter by Betty Mahmoody

Reading 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' these days by Khaled Hosseini.

I Wish.....

How I wish I was a kid yet again....loved by all at all times with no worries, tensions, responsibilities and saved from all the evils by mom. :)

aadhitha - that's not my name

No no no.....I havent added these extra letters to my name for numerological purposes. My name is Adita and I write it as it is. Aadhitha is the spelling that the Tamilians have given to me. Why??After every 'D' and 'T', they put an 'H' although they pronounce it correctly. So when I tell them my name for the first time, this is the spelling they put. ;)

Learn it the hard way...Baby!!!!

Have been thinking about life and people around me since last evening. Spoke to some friends and since they are mostly elder to me, so they were giving advices from their experience. What they wanted me to realise is that one is on his own in this world. No one except for parents and few VERY close friends want your welfare/benefit. Everyone is working/planning/plotting against you, be it your general friends/people at work/people around apart from work. They are with you because you are a help to them in some way else they have nothing to do with you. I think its so true, after giving a considerable thought to past few years of my life and also to what I am going through at present.

Honestly, it hurts to know that when you have done nothing wrong to those people, why would they want bad for you. But I guess thats how the world works. I have seen people changing their basic nature with time ( I agree one has to change but atleast not the basic nature pls).

This may sound like I am praising myself but I am an open book, my life is an open book. I dont know to be pretentious. I am what I am. I dont like lying. I dont like hypocrisy. I dont like to be diplomatic. Well this is what my friend had to say on this - "Adita, you will have a bright future and you will be what you are NOT right now. And I am saying this because you will learn it the hard way...baby!!!"

New Friend

Made a new friend about 2 months back but didnt know that we would get so comfortable and frank with each other so quickly. Today, this friend discussed something very personal with me. He wanted my opinion about it. It made me feel good that my friends treat me with so much importance. Although, there are all type of friends. Friends who are always there even at the most odd hour, friends who are there for namesake, etc etc. I am having 'may be' one of the worst phases of my life these days. Looks like I am having problems at every step. Nothing is smooth going. But this friend today made me realise that there always be some people there to support me. Thank you friend. :)

Some goodness around

Morning, while I was negotiating with an autowala to come to office, two females on an Activa came and ask the same Auto guy about Apollo Hospital. He tried explaining them but I guess he was not clear enough (Remember I dont know Tamil). Apollo was on the way to where I wanted to go. So this guy asked those ladies to follow him. He drove slowly and kept an eye on the activa so that the ladies dont get lost again. He made sure that they reach Apollo without asking for any more directions. I was impressed and glad to see that there is still some goodness around in the world. I paid that Autowala some extra money because he made me smile. :)

Lines from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath, nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.

Talks about pain of dashed hopes.

Some more lines

Siftly, swiftly flew the ship
Riding gently the oncoming tide.

Talks about hopes built up and moving ahead.

Flowers...!!!!

Flowers can brighten your day. And that too a yellow bunch of flowers received most unexpectedly..nothing like it. This is what I got when I was sad one particular day. It had taken care of my smile for the rest of the day. Thank you friend. :)

Puducherri

The Nakshatra gang had gone to Baba & Ilina's new place for drinks & dinner on 14th Jan. While we are at it, we decided to go for a drive on ECR(for those who dont know, ECR is East Coast Road. Self explanatory that its the road along the east coast line). That drive actually ended in Pondicherry, now Puducherri. ;)

1:00a.m. - Me and Jojan on bike on our way to Pondicherry @ the speed of 90km/hr. The road is a heaven for all those who like driving.

2:45a.m. - Reached the entrance of P.cherry

3:30a.m. - Gandhi Statue in P.cherry. We decided to see the sunrise and then head back to Chennai.

5:30a.m. - The sunlight has started to show.

6:15a.m.

6:20a.m.

7:00a.m. - Having breakfast at a Beach Side restaurant.

8:00a.m. - On our way back to Chennai. The guys wanted to take a break from driving.

The 2 girls, all tired now and still trying to smile. Please remember that it was a 1 night trip and we all hadnt slept even a minute. :)

All in all, a fun trip and a memorable trip.

Early Morning in Bangalore!!!

I had gone to Bangalore to spend my New year with a bunch of close friends. I took a late night train on 28th Dec from Chennai and reached Blore on 29th early morning. Vik came to pick me up at the station and dropped me at Archu's place. This particular pic was taken while I was waiting for Vik.

Bangalore Cant. Station at 5:30a.m.

Fog in Chennai

One morning I opened the door for my maid and she started asking for a sweater. I was surprised. Why would she want a sweater. Its never so cold in Chennai. Right? Thats what we knew.....but you too wont be able to believe. See the pic below....

There was fog in Chennai that morning. It was 7:00a.m. at that time and was a Saturday. I knew all my friends would be happily sleeping. Still, I messaged all of them to wake up and not miss this. :)

Curious to know your future?

Astrology is a group of systems, traditions, and beliefs in which knowledge of the relative positions of celestial bodies and related details is held to be useful in understanding, interpreting, and organizing information about personality, human affairs, and other terrestrial matters. ...

I find this quite unbelievable yet fascinating. How can the position of planets tell you about an individual's future?

According to my understanding and some discussions with friends who have been to astrologers on a regular basis, astrologer would ask you your DOB, TOB and POB (Date, time and place of birth in that order). And then they would predict your future. The question that pops up in my mind is - 'There are many people with the same 3 things. Does that mean they will all have alike future?'

Another thing is the matching of horoscopes at the time of marriage. I think whats more important is the nature of the two people involved in the relationship. Then from where does this horoscope thing comes.

What really bothers me is that people tend to change their behaviour according to what they have been told. (Many may not agree with me)

I am a person who is not into all this but listening to what my friends have to tell about this, I really wonder how one attains this power of prediction. I dont know any astrolger closely so guess the question would linger on my mind forever.

Any helper???? :D

Rain is falling.......chhama chham chham

Its been raining non stop in Chennai since last evening and its going to rain even more for next few days. http://kea.metsite.com/

It has completely disrupted the normal life with so much water logging and traffic coming to a crawling speed on the roads. I am sure the most benfitted lot is that of Autowalas who, looks like, ask for every penny you are carrying in your wallet. And you dont have a choice than to pay the amount they want and reach to a safer and more secure place - HOME.

I am looking out side at the rain, waiting desperately for it to stop. Got a party in the evening which, in most probability will be cancelled. :(

My Laptop is dead!!!!!!

My laptop went off abruptly while watching FRIENDS yesterday and it hasnt come to life till now. That makes me sad. It means no music, no watching FRIENDS, no watching sidey movies, no internet surfing and no chatting till the time it is repaired. God, how much dependent I am on it to pass time.

I have been on phone since the moment I stepped in office trying to find the service centre in Chennai. Finally, when I did, they asked me to register the complaint at Delhi office. And, while registering the complaint, I got to know that although my laptop is under the warranty period, I will have to avail the services at chargeable basis. The reason??? I bought the laptop from UAE (I do have International Warranty) but it has some stupid norms which won't let me get the laptop repaired FOC.

Now, either the norms are stupid or I dont know what International Warranty means.

P.S. I am writing this blog from office because I have nothing better to do. I am expecting some comments from my dear friends for this. :D

Seperation Phase!!!!!

Writing a blog after a long time....

Looks like I am going through a seperation phase with most of my close friends moving on in life and settling down. It does hurt to see them go but they are going for their betterment and that makes me happy for them. :)

Also, its making me learn to live alone plus make new friends plus give my life a serious thought.........
